The HOPE Center was established in 1991 to be the clearing house for assistance in Dickinson County. There is a board of directors that meet a minimum of six times a year and an Executive Director. 

HOW DOES HOPE CENTER HELP?

Direct Aid: Using a voucher system,  HOPE Center gives direct financial aid to help with bills such as utilities, rent, prescription, diapers, gasoline, etc. Aid is available to home owners on a fixed income for home repairs.

Referral Service: HOPE Center networks with other social service agencies and makes referrals to other community resources when appropriate.

Money Management Counseling: Available, free of charge, to any resident of Dickinson County. Evening appointments are available.

Payee Program: The payee program is overseen by the Social Security Administration for people who are on Social Security income and are unable to manage their finances. Each individual has a checking account where their monthly Social Security checks are automatically deposited and only The HOPE Center has the authority to access funds to pay each payee's monthly bills.

HOPE House: A transitional house for local families who are homeless or unable to remain in their current housing. During the 90 days the the family is in the house expense-free, they are required to participate in life skills training and money management counseling to prepare for financial and housing stability.

The HOPE Center is the Salvation Army presence for Dickinson County. We administer the funds raised by our holiday bell ringing campaign and are used for financial aid. We also organize and conduct the Angel Tree giving for children at Christmas.
